Karwar has been the hometown for the Konkan Maratha Samaj for last 250 years. However over the last three to four decades the community members have started migrating outside Karwar to Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Goa, Hubli etc for better career opportunities. Their visits to Karwar have been fairly restricted to vacations or during festival times. As a result, the interaction within the community members has substantially reduced. On understanding the challenges faced by the 20 associations in 3 states, LMP Group organized Charcha Satras to discuss the problems faced by the community members to maintain a close tie up with our native place Karwar.

LMP till date has organized the following Charcha Satras :

  • 1. Dadar, Mumbai, January 11, 2009
  • 2. Phonda, Goa, March 29, 2009
  • 3. Chinchwad, Pune, September 20, 2009

LMP through the 3 Charcha Satras organized at Mumbai, Goa and Pune in 2009 could reach to the heart of the community members and identify the main challenges faced by the community as following:

  • 1. Higher interaction between the 20 Associations from Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra
  • 2. Solutions to avoid Inter-caste marriages
  • 3. Provide Helpline for community members who are handicapped and downtrodden
  • 4. Provide medical aid to the needy community members
  • 5. Provision of Elder’s home at Karwar for the poor and needy community members
  • 6. Career Counseling and Guidance
  • 7. Provide Job opportunities to youths from the community residing at Karwar

LMP through its various programs has tried to address these challenges faced by the Community.

LMP is an independent and self-funded organization with no affiliation to any other associations of the community. We do not accept any donation nor do we take any charges for our programs.
